    IEC Router Templates

By popular demand, we are now making available a high quality IEC and Panel Mount router templates for both plywood/tolex and tweed installations and also, tight fighting hardwood versions. If precision is your game, this will satisfy even the most discerning of woodworkers! You can use these templates to add countersunk IEC and panel mount ports to either the right or left hand side of your board. This shape is a tricky one to do by hand, and we’ve made it easy for you to access both the through hole and the countersunk portion. By countersinking, it brings the piece into the professional level, bypassing all the others who leave their ports flush to the exterior board frame… Boooo

    What’s Included:

    • Translucent & Durable 3/16″ Cast Acrylic Plate
    • Choose your version – Made for either plywood or hardwood (larger gap around the ply version to allow the material to flow into the countersink without ripping
    • When choosing the KIT option, you will be getting all 3 templates for either plywood or hardwood applications

    What’s Not Included:

    • Router – we recommend a smaller trim type router on a plunge base
    • 3/8″ aka .375″ Bushing
    • .25″ straight router bit
    • Some people like to use double sided stick tape to adhere the template to the workpiece, but you can also clamp them into place. Depending on the wood, they can slip unless precautions are taken.

    Usage Notes & Basic Guide

    • These plates are designed to align using the bottom of the board to the edge, so it’s helpful to have your board frame glued up and sanded square
    • When using the panel mount template, use your 1″ forester bit to make your through hole first, then countersink
    • When working with the IEC templates, make the through hole first, but before doing that, manually add a .5″ through hole, so the chips and dust have a way to escape while routing. Then follow up with your IEC countersink
    • OPTIONALYou can add a bit of sand paper or double sided stick tape to the template base to help eliminate the template from sliding around
